Technology built around the work that makes growth possible

Connect operational experience, intelligent software and automation around the change your business needs to make

Ocado Group brings together software, robotics and automation for commerce, fulfilment and logistics. The portfolio addresses different parts of the operation: growing grocery demand, coordinating warehouse work, storing inventory and preparing orders. The starting point is the performance you need to improve, with technology selected around your products, existing systems and plans for growth.

The value of technology is in the decisions and work it changes

A better forecast can change what is replenished. A different picking method can change how labour is used. Automated retrieval can change how much stock a site holds and how it reaches the next task. Each capability has a specific role in the commercial performance of the operation.

Ocado’s experience combines technology developed for live, high-throughput grocery operations with capabilities and expertise brought into the wider portfolio. The story is one of operational problem-solving and continued development, rather than a claim that every product shares the same origin or architecture.

Developed where performance matters

Online grocery combines varied baskets, fresh products and tight delivery windows. Working with that complexity has shaped how we develop and refine technology: around the decisions, movements and handovers that determine how well an operation performs.

Find the right level of automation

You may need better software guidance for your people, mobile robots in an existing warehouse, or automated storage and picking. In grocery, OSP supports manual store fulfilment through to automated Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs). The right starting point depends on your products, demand and existing operation.

Intelligence behind the work

In online grocery, artificial intelligence algorithms help personalise shopping, forecast demand and optimise delivery routes. In the warehouse, software assigns work and coordinates movement, turning operational data into decisions about what happens next.

Connected grocery platform

The Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) connects Ecommerce, Supply Chain, Fulfilment and Last mile. Its modular design lets grocery retailers adopt selected capabilities or a broader platform.

Mobile robotics and orchestration

Ocado IQ coordinates people and tasks across Chuck AMR, Porter AMR and the Ocado IQ App. The Bridge is a management dashboard powered by Ocado IQ, giving supervisors full fleet operational visibility and control.

Storage and retrieval technology

Software within the Storage & Retrieval System coordinates Totes, Retrieval Bots and workstations. It manages where stock is held and how it reaches the next task.

Robotic picking and sorting

On-Grid Robotic Pick handles suitable individual products within the Grid. Robotic Sort Putwall offers a separate approach to sorting items into orders.

Test ideas before changing operations

Simulation and digital twins help explore configurations and operational decisions before they are put into practice. They can inform site design and test how a proposed change could affect the way work flows.

See innovation become operational capability

Ocado Re:Imagined brought together a new generation of OSP technologies. Those innovations have progressed into use, including robotic picking and delivery routing.

Connect the portfolio without flattening its differences

OSP connects capabilities across online grocery. Ocado IQ directs mobile and guided warehouse work, with The Bridge supporting supervisors overseeing the AMR fleet. Software within the Storage & Retrieval System coordinates storage and retrieval. Intelligence is built into these solutions, with each serving the work of the operation.

The appropriate combination depends on the work and the interfaces between processes. Our approach page explains how Ocado works with partners to assess and deliver change. Here, the product and solution links show what each technology contributes.

FAQ

Do I need the whole Ocado Smart Platform? No. OSP’s modular design supports selected capabilities as well as a broader platform. The appropriate scope depends on your grocery operation and existing systems.
Is Ocado Group technology only for large CFCs? No. The portfolio includes software for manual grocery fulfilment, guided warehouse workflows and mobile robots, alongside automated storage and robotic picking.
Do all products use the same software?

Software and intelligence are built into each solution. OSP supports connected grocery operations, including ISF and SBA. Ocado IQ coordinates mobile and guided warehouse work, while the Storage & Retrieval System has software for its own operation. Connections depend on the selected solution.
